Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong unveiled The Shangri-La Suite on 11 June 2024, a 222-square-metre residence that general manager Clifford Weiner called “the next step in our multi-year transformation” of the hotel.

The suite has two bedrooms, with a third guestroom available to connect. A foyer in veined marble and woven wallpaper leads to a sitting room and bar anchored by an eight-metre landscape mural and a jade-green marble cocktail bar. The dining room seats ten beneath French crystal chandeliers, backed by a full kitchen and a private wine cellar stocked with a Petrus selection.

Materials run to marble, onyx, velvet, silk and hand-blown crystal. The main ensuite has twin rainforest showers and an oversized bath, with his-and-hers dressing rooms and walk-in wardrobes, while the living spaces look out over Victoria Harbour.

Service is built around a personal butler, a pillow menu, a SleepRitual gong bath and wine curated by the hotel’s sommeliers. In-suite dining is prepared by Michelin-starred chef Uwe Opocensky.

Island Shangri-La opened on 1 March 1991 in the upper floors of Two Pacific Place in Admiralty, the same complex as The Upper House. It has 557 rooms, and its atrium holds The Great Motherland of China, a silk painting that rises through 16 floors. Details are on the Island Shangri-La website.
