Waldorf Astoria Osaka
Umekita (Grand Green Osaka), Osaka, Japan
Hilton's top brand in Japan: 252 large rooms by André Fu above Umekita Park, north of Osaka station.
- Open
- Opened April 2025
Why we recommend it
André Fu's interiors are the argument. He has taken the Art Deco vocabulary of the New York original and set it against Japanese materials and screens, and the rooms are generous and high enough to look from the bay to the mountains of Hyogo. Travellers who know his work at The Upper House will recognise the calm.
The hotel also changes how Osaka can be used. The city has long been visited for dinner from Kyoto. With this hotel and Four Seasons Hotel Osaka, which opened in 2024, it has become a place to stay, with a new park at the door and the station a short walk away.
Location
The hotel is in Grand Green Osaka, the redevelopment of former railway land immediately north of Osaka station, and stands beside Umekita Park. Osaka Station is about an eight-minute walk away; Kyoto is about half an hour by train.
