Why we recommend it
The reason to choose this hotel is the 28th floor. Gensui offers the manners of a Japanese inn, with tatami, futon-style beds and a separate tea lounge, inside an international hotel with a pool, a spa and several restaurants. For a traveller who wants a ryokan night without leaving the city, it is a practical answer; the hotel describes it as the city's first modern ryokan floor.
Dojima is also a good base. The museums of Nakanoshima are a short distance south, and the main station is to the north. With Waldorf Astoria Osaka, it is one of two openings that gave Osaka hotels worth staying for.
Location
The hotel is in the One Dojima tower in Dojima, between Osaka's main station and the Nakanoshima riverfront, in the district that was the centre of the rice trade in the Edo period. It is about a ten-minute walk from Osaka Station; Kyoto is about half an hour away by train.
