The Restaurant

Zuma Maldives is a contemporary Japanese izakaya set over the lagoon at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. It has three open kitchens, a sushi counter, a live kitchen and a robata grill, where wagyu and tiger prawns are grilled over charcoal and plated in view of the room.

Zuma was founded in London in 2002 by Rainer Becker; this is the group’s first restaurant in the Indian Ocean. Dishes named in the opening announcement include thinly sliced sea bass with yuzu, truffle oil and salmon roe, roasted lobster with shiso ponzu butter, and spicy beef tenderloin with sesame.

Good to Know

The resort lists seasonal closures, so check opening before booking. See the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi page and Maldives for more.
