InterContinental Chongqing Raffles City

Chaotianmen, Yuzhong, Chongqing, China

IHG's flagship in Moshe Safdie's Raffles City: 380 rooms on floors 44 to 65 and a lobby in the Crystal sky bridge, above the meeting of the Yangtze and Jialing.

  • Open
  • Opened August 2020

Why we recommend it

InterContinental Chongqing Raffles City is part of Raffles City, one of the most ambitious architectural projects in China, designed by Moshe Safdie around a horizontal sky bridge, the Crystal, that links four towers about 250 metres above the street. The hotel's rooms are in one of the towers, and its lobby and restaurants are in the Crystal itself.

It opened in August 2020 with 380 rooms and suites on floors 44 to 65, all with floor-to-ceiling windows over the two rivers. The interiors, by CL3 Architects, take the sails of a Yangtze boat as their theme, in white, ivory and beige with marble bathrooms. The hotel has five restaurants and an indoor pool, and it is a short walk from Chaotianmen Square.

Location

The hotel is at Chaotianmen, at the tip of the Yuzhong peninsula, where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet, close to Hongyadong and the city's historic ferry docks.
