TA’AKTANA Opens in Labuan Bajo Near Komodo
Marriott's first hotel in Labuan Bajo brings 70 suites and villas, including seven overwater villas, to the gateway of Komodo National Park.
TA’AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, opened in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, as announced by Marriott International on 31 May 2024. It is Marriott’s first property in Labuan Bajo and The Luxury Collection’s second in Indonesia, a ten-minute drive from Komodo International Airport.
The name means “green land” in the Manggarai language, a reference to the web-shaped rice terraces of the Lingko fields found in the region. The resort spreads across 16 hectares and serves as a base for Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There are 70 keys: 45 suites and 25 villas. Seven of the villas stand over the water, a design inspired by Indonesia’s sea nomads. The interiors are by ANP Interiors.
Five venues cover food and drink. Leros handles all-day dining, Umasa serves Indonesian dishes family-style and Taba is built around a robata grill. Nera Lounge is a sunset tapas bar, and Maiga! is a bar with panoramic sea views.
Di’a Spa has six private treatment rooms, a steam room and a plunge pool. The resort also has a fitness centre, an oceanfront chapel and two meeting spaces. “The Luxury Collection provides today’s global travelers with rare experiences that are deeply reflective of the destination,” said Philipp Weghmann, vice president and global brand leader.
