Patina Maldives, Fari Islands opened on 18 May 2021 in North Malé Atoll, the first property of Patina Hotels & Resorts, the brand Capella Hotel Group announced in March 2020. The resort lies 45 minutes by boat from Malé International Airport.

It has 110 keys: 90 one- to three-bedroom Beach and Water Pool Villas and 20 Fari Studios. The architecture is by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan, founder of Studio MK27, who described the project as “an opportunity to be together in isolation”, balancing “peace and party, nature and design, technology and rusticity”.

The design is low-slung to respect the horizon line, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass, wood, linen, rattan and stone. Studio MK27 also designed custom millwork furniture; bathrooms have monolithic Nero Marquina marble vanities and free-standing outdoor double bathtubs. The resort joined the Design Hotels collection.

Art is a central element. A commissioned Skyspace pavilion by James Turrell is part of the resort, and later programming included an art residency with Daniel Arsham in early 2022.

Patina is one of three resorts in the Fari Islands development, which also includes Fari Marina Village with a beach club, boutiques and restaurants. At launch the resort highlighted zero-waste kitchens and wellness programming; in April 2024 it published a release on replacing diesel generation with solar power.
