Palazzo Versace Macau Opens at Grand Lisboa Palace

Versace's first hotel in Asia completes SJM's Cotai resort, with 271 rooms, a mosaic lobby modelled on its Milan headquarters and two Italian restaurants.

Palazzo Versace Macau celebrated its grand opening at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau on 24 March 2024, with Donatella Versace hosting guests and John Legend performing. It is the Italian house’s first hotel in Asia and the last of the three hotel towers at SJM Resorts’ Cotai resort to open.

“I am delighted to celebrate the opening of this truly beautiful Palazzo Versace here in Macau,” Donatella Versace said at the event. SJM’s Daisy Ho said the opening “fully realised” the group’s vision for its first Cotai integrated resort.

The hotel has 271 rooms and suites over 12 floors. Its lobby is a reinterpretation of Versace’s Milan headquarters at Via Gesù 12, made from more than 80,000 hand-laid enamel mosaic tiles.

Throughout the interiors, Versace signatures such as the Medusa head, the Greca key motif and the Barocco print are paired with Chinese symbols including golden dragons and chrysanthemums. Rooms are furnished with Versace Home textiles, lighting and tableware, set against Italian terrazzo flooring.

Dining is Italian, with Don Alfonso 1890 and La Scala del Palazzo. A wellness retreat, a personal training studio and indoor and outdoor swimming pools complete the facilities.

The project was first announced in 2013, and its completion was delayed by the pandemic. It becomes Versace’s second hotel in operation after Palazzo Versace Dubai; the brand withdrew in 2023 from the Gold Coast property in Queensland that it had opened in 2000.

With Palazzo Versace in place, Grand Lisboa Palace now pairs two fashion-house hotels, the other being THE KARL LAGERFELD, alongside its main tower. Daisy Ho said the resort is “home to the only couture-focused designer hotels in Macau”. More on the city’s hotels is in our Macau guide, and details are on the Versace website.
