InterContinental Kaohsiung Opens in Farglory The One

InterContinental Kaohsiung opened on 21 November 2021 in the southern Taiwanese port city, bringing IHG’s luxury brand to Kaohsiung. The 253-room hotel occupies part of Farglory The One, a tower developed by Farglory Group and described by the hotel as the tallest luxury residence in Taiwan.

The combination of hotel and private apartments in a single building was presented at the launch as a first for Taiwan. The total investment in the project was reported at NT$45 billion, and at opening about 69 per cent of The One’s residences had been sold. Farglory Group owns the hotel, which IHG operates.

Guest rooms are designed in a classic Art Deco style, while the building’s design references Kaohsiung harbour and the ocean. Rooms include built-in voice controls and other smart technology, and IHG later highlighted Porsche hybrid limousines, a composting system for kitchen waste and local sourcing among its sustainability measures.

Dining spans SEEDS, the all-day restaurant; ZHÀN LÙ for Chinese cuisine; WA-RA for Japanese cooking, including omakase at chef’s tables; the BL.T33 lobby lounge; and Patisserie Delicatesse. Facilities include a Club InterContinental lounge, a pool, gym, sauna and steam rooms, and banqueting space.

General manager Robbert Manussen said in 2023 that the hotel’s blend of “sustainability, smart technology, and curated design” had built momentum since opening. The hotel is at No. 33 Xinguang Road in Qianzhen District; details are on the InterContinental Kaohsiung website.
