Hotel Mount Fuji Will Reopen as a Vignette Collection Property
An extensive renovation will bring the historic Hotel Mount Fuji into Vignette Collection.
IHG Hotels & Resorts and Fuji Kyuko are transforming the historic Hotel Mount Fuji into a Vignette Collection property following an extensive renovation.
The agreement, announced in May 2026, will make the 150-room hotel the third Vignette Collection property in Japan. The hotel sits on Mount Odeyama at an elevation of about 1,100 metres, overlooking Lake Yamanaka and Mount Fuji.
A 1963 hotel built around one extraordinary view
Hotel Mount Fuji originally opened in 1963 and was specifically conceived to take advantage of its panoramic view of Japan’s most recognisable mountain. That history makes the renovation more interesting than a straightforward brand conversion.
Vignette Collection is IHG’s collection brand for individual hotels, allowing properties to retain their names and distinctive identities. The approach can be particularly suited to established hotels where heritage and location are more valuable than imposing a uniform brand aesthetic.
A reopening date will depend on completion of the renovation; the announcement should therefore be read as a future transformation rather than a currently operating Vignette Collection hotel.
