Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced on 9 June 2026 that Mandarin Oriental Makati, Manila will open in late 2026, marking the brand’s return to the Philippine capital. The hotel is being developed with Ayala Land at Ayala Triangle Gardens, at the meeting of Makati Avenue, Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas in the Makati central business district.

The group’s original Mandarin Oriental Manila operated in Makati from 1976 to 2014 and was a gathering place for business, diplomatic and cultural life. When the new project was first announced in April 2024, Ayala Land’s Mariana Zobel de Ayala said the old hotel had been “more than just a physical landmark”.

The new building rises 98.7 metres and will contain 275 rooms and suites. Deluxe rooms start at more than 50 square metres, with family rooms and suites offering connecting options and club accommodation with butler service.

There will be five dining and bar concepts covering contemporary Cantonese, Filipino and international cuisine, plus craft cocktails. The 800-square-metre spa and wellness floor will draw on Filipino healing traditions such as hilot massage and Sukob ng Manggagamot herbal practices, alongside a 25-metre outdoor pool.

For events, a 740-square-metre Grand Hall will seat up to 1,000 guests. Group chief executive Laurent Kleitman called the Philippines “one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant and culturally rich nations”, while Jaime Urquijo Zobel de Ayala of Ayala Land said the return “represents a defining moment for Makati”. The hotel’s website has further details.
