Hilton Signs Its First Hotel in Batam, Indonesia
Hilton signs its first hotel on the Indonesian island of Batam.
Hilton has signed its first hotel in Batam, expanding its Indonesian footprint to an island destination closely connected with Singapore and Malaysia.
Hilton Garden Inn Batam City Centre is expected to open in 2028 with 199 rooms. The September 3, 2026 announcement positions the hotel near commercial, retail and transport hubs, including ferry terminals linking Batam with neighbouring countries.
Batam’s cross-border travel market
Batam serves a mix of corporate, weekend leisure, golf, wellness and medical-related travel. Its short ferry connections make it unusually dependent on regional cross-border demand rather than air travel alone.
The signing is therefore strategically interesting even though Hilton Garden Inn is not a luxury brand: it shows a global operator moving into a fast-growing secondary Indonesian destination with strong links to Singapore.
The hotel remains a pipeline project and is not yet bookable for immediate stays.
