Regent Bora Bora Will Replace the InterContinental After a Major Transformation
A transformation of the former InterContinental resort will bring Regent to French Polynesia.
IHG Hotels & Resorts will bring Regent to French Polynesia by transforming the former InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa into Regent Bora Bora.
The agreement was announced on September 16, 2026. The InterContinental property closed on June 1 for extensive renovations and is scheduled to reopen under the Regent flag in late 2027.
An all-overwater Regent resort
IHG says the transformed property will contain 84 villas, all over water, on a private motu facing Mount Otemanu. Direct lagoon access and the resort’s established setting will remain central to the experience, while the renovation will introduce Regent’s current design and service concepts.
The conversion is more significant than a conventional rebranding because the existing resort is undergoing a substantial physical transformation before returning to market. It also gives Regent a presence in one of the world’s most established ultra-luxury island destinations.
The future resort will include Regent signatures such as Personal Havens, Regent Experience Agents and the brand’s With Compliments approach to inclusions.
