Wild Coast Tented Lodge
Palatupana, Yala, Sri Lanka
A safari camp of 28 cocoon-shaped tents between Yala National Park and the Indian Ocean.
Why we recommend it
The most accomplished safari lodge in Sri Lanka, and one of the few in Asia where the architecture is a reason to go. Game drives with the lodge's own naturalists make the difference in a park that can be crowded, and the setting on the shore, with animals walking through the unfenced camp, is unlike anywhere else on the island.
Location
At Palatupana, beside the main entrance area of Yala National Park on the south-east coast, about five hours by road from Colombo. The sea here is not suitable for swimming.
